The experts from the University of Cambridge have named the countries where the locals eat healthy food. It was found that the most useful products are preferred by the people from the poorest countries. The researchers published the results of their study in The Lancet.

The ranking of the countries with the healthiest diet was based on the 20-year study, which was conducted from 1990 to 2010. The employees of the University led by Dr. Fumiaki Imamura studied the diet of 187 countries, taking into account their region of residence, nationality, gender, age and national income per capita.

So, the top ten countries with the most useful and varied diet were: Chad, Sierra Leone, Mali, Gambia, Uganda, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Israel and Somalia. The African state of Chad is one of the poorest in the world, but only natural products (worms, larvae, plant food) are eaten here, so it did not appear on top of the ranking accidentally. Israel was the only European country in this list; moreover, it is considered one of the most developed and wealthiest countries. The locals have been known to reject dishes from pork and eat mostly vegetables, fruits, olive oil, and cereals.

As for the anti-rating, it included the residents of Armenia, Belgium, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Mongolia and Slovakia. It is also noted that during these two decades the diet of Indian and Chinese people has deteriorated greatly. European countries constitute 40% of this list as the countries which consume the most harmful products. The study also found that women eat healthier food than men, as well as the older generation in comparison with young people.
