No foods can strengthen our bones like dairy products. That is what lots of people think, and they are wrong. A team of Spanish scientists has found that there is a no less useful product in this regard.
The experts from the medical center of Girona claim that olive oil and olives strengthen bones better than milk. They had a 2-year experiment, involving people who kept to a special diet.
Half of the volunteers were offered a Mediterranean diet, rich in olives and olive oil (first pressing), and the rest were offered to have a low-calorie diet.
After the experiment, it was found that the organism of the people, who had been eating olives, demonstrated higher concentration of osteocalcin protein, which is the marker of bone growth. The bones became stronger.
Other participants of the experiment experienced no change in the condition of their bones.
