Cola Intake Causes Arrhythmia

Scientists have found out that Cola intake can cause arrhythmia. This effect is caused by the corn syrup that the drink contains.

This syrup may hinder water absorption in the digestive system and thus cause diarrhea, leading to large losses of fluid, which removes potassium from the body. In addition, scientist Naim Zarkane from Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco notes that caffeine, contained in cola, is likely to reduce the amount of potassium absorbed by kidneys. Potassium is required for normal heart muscle performance, while its deficiency may inhibit ventricular performance, causing arrhythmia.

Previous studies have shown that coke can cause 180,000 deaths worldwide annually, since its intake leads to excess weight and promotes the development of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer.
