Daily consumption of yogurt reduces the risk of type II diabetes by 25%. This is the conclusion made by the researchers at Cambridge University.

British scientists have found that the daily consumption of yogurt reduces the risk of developing type II diabetes by a quarter. Exactly the same disease prevention is provided by adding fermented dairy products with low fat content, such as cottage cheese, to regular diet. Observations have shown that yogurt and cottage cheese reduce the risk of developing type II diabetes by 24% for 11 years.

The biggest health benefit was given by only 4.5 standard 125 g packages of yogurt a week, which helped reduce the risk of diabetes by as much as 28%. Cambridge scientists claim that this is the first study of its kind, when the dietary preferences of people were carefully recorded as long as necessary to determine whether they influenced the threat of diabetes.

According to the study author Dr. Nita Forouhi, the study highlights the fact that specific foods can play an important role in the prevention of type II diabetes, and it is an important signal to the community. We have long known that the consumption of certain foods and beverages containing a large amount of sugar is bad for our health. It is more valuable to know that there are healthy foods, such as yogurt and fermented dairy products with low fat content.

Type II diabetes develops mainly under the influence of unhealthy habits. It occurs most often in people with overweight and obesity, if they have a sedentary lifestyle and do not eat healthy foods.
