Acne is not just a problem of teenagers. Sometimes it seems that even conquering Everest is easier than treating acne. If this is about you, read our tips.
1. What Causes Acne?
Why do we get acne? The main reason is the sebum secreted by our skin. It mixes with dead skin cells and clogs the pores. They begin to breed bacteria, and this area becomes inflamed. Therefore, an effective but gentle cleansing and exfoliation should be an integral part of your beauty ration. Clean your face with a special cleanser minimum twice a day, and use exfoliating products twice a week (choose the most delicate form – gommage). Be careful with aggressive gels and foams, as well products containing granules or particulates. These chemicals can damage the skin, which does not have a positive effect on acne condition.
2. Moisturize the Skin
If you think that oily skin does not need moisturizing, you’re wrong. On the contrary, a good cream can reduce sebum. In facts, sebum exists to soften and protect the skin. If you do not use a moisturizer (especially in the over-dried air-conditioned office space), the skin will have to produce more and more oil. Pick up a light water-based oil-free moisturizer. It will help solve many problems.
3. Know the Ingredients of Your Beauty Products
No matter what adverts say, take a close look at the composition of the beauty product and make sure it contains anti-acne substances. Benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria, dissolves fat clogs in pores and helps to cure acne. Glycolic acid and salicylic acid effectively dissolve sebum and accelerate skin renewal. Various forms of vitamin A (tretinoin, retinol) are also good for skin renewal and healing. If you look for a natural remedy, choose products with tea tree oil, it is valued for its antibacterial properties. But remember that all of these products improve skin sensitivity, so use them at night and apply sunscreen during the day.
4. Don’t Touch Your Face
Keeping your face clean is not just washing it. Give up the habit of touching your face. Even when you are just propping up the chin with your fist, you are transferring dirt and bacteria onto your face, and it increases the risk of inflammation. Mobile phones, pillow cases, make-up brushes and even your own hair are also potential sources of trouble.
5. How to Get Rid of a Pimple?
You must know already that it’s not a good idea to squeeze pimples. But what if your forehead or nose glows red? Try this method. Make sure the pimple is ripe, and a white head apeared (any manipulations before will only do harm!). Wipe your skin with an anti-acne lotion. Take a clean towel and wet a corner with hot water. Press the wet area to the pimple and keep it for several minutes, the hot water will steam out the skin and make the procedure gentle. Gently shift the towel 1 millimeter a side, and the white head should secede. If it does not, repeat the procedure.
