Many people have heard that a popular coke drink is harmful to health, but few of us know how.
Let us consider stage by stage what happens to our body when consuming one cola can. During the first 10 minutes, the sugar from coke produces a powerful effect on the body. In the usual case, such an overdose of sugar causes vomiting, but cola is a very tricky mixture, it contains phosphoric acid, which prevents vomiting. Because of this unusual effect, some parents find cola useful and give it to their children suffering from stomach disorders. But in fact, the child only feels worse.
Within 20 minutes, the body tries to resist the sugar overdose, and there is a powerful release of insulin into the bloodstream, the liver absorbs sugar and converts it into fat.
Within 40 minutes, the caffeine contained in cola is completely absorbed by the body. The blood pressure rises in response to the increased release of blood sugar by liver. Adenosine receptors are blocked in the brain, and this contributes to the suppression of sleepiness. Eye pupils dilate.
45 minutes after drinking cola, the production of the dopamine hormone is increased, which stimulates the brain’s pleasure center. Such action is produced by some drugs, particularly heroin.
One hour after drinking cola, the phosphoric acid accelerates metabolism in the intestine through binding calcium, zinc and magnesium. The effect is aggravated by a huge dose of sugar and artificial sweeteners. The diuretic effect of caffeine is observed. Calcium is washed away from the bones making them weaker; later calcium appears in the urine. Together with calcium, magnesium, zinc, sodium, and water are also removed from the body.
By the 65th minute, the body begins to experience an acute shortage of sugar. As a result, you experience drowsiness and irritation; the lack of sugar replaces the lack of caffeine, one feels fatigue and weakness. The body loses more fluid than it received together with cola. All the sugar is metabolized by the body.
Once the action of cola passes, you feel uncomfortable, but it all disappears, if you drink another glass of cola! But think about it, is it really worth it?
Regular consumption of cola contributes to the development of hypertension and obesity. Synthetic sweeteners, such as aspartame (E951), cause only a greater thirst, which is used by various manufacturers of beverages. Ultimately, the use of large doses of sugar substitutes lead to nervous disorders and slow mental development. Besides, cola contains the substances that inhibit the enzyme activity of the stomach and intestines, which is necessary for the digestion of fats and starches – this is the main reason for the formation of fat.
