How to Survive a Heart Attack If You’re Alone

Sometimes people experience a heart attack when they are alone, with no one to help them. If you ever feel that your heart begins to beat “in a wrong way” and you are close to fainting, you have only about 10 seconds before you lose consciousness. What can you do?

All the victims of heart attacks could help themselves. To do this, start to cough – many times and with great force. Every time before you cough, take a deep breath – your coughing must be deep and prolonged, as if you spit phlegm from deep chest.

Breathing and coughing must be repeated every two seconds without breaks and stops, until the arrival of emergency medical services or until the heart starts beating normally again.

A deep breath allows oxygen to penetrate into the lungs, and coughing movements “press” the heart and make the blood circulate. This pressure on the heart helps achieve the normal heart rhythm. Thus, victims of heart attacks win some more time waiting for the doctors’ arrival or getting to the hospital. Tell this to as many people as you can. It could save their life!

Cardiologists say that if each of us shares this information with 10 people, at least one life could be saved.
