Selfies became part of a subculture uniting gadget owners – nowadays, everyone is taking pictures of themselves. However, it turned out that the men who like taking and posting selfies may be suffering from certain psycho-emotional problems.

The men who share selfies are likely to suffer from psychological problems, according to the scientists from Ohio State University. According to the experts, who have recently finished a research on male selfies, this habit shows men’s psychopathic traits.

In total, this research project involved 800 men aged 18 to 40. The experts have found out how serious their online habits are – in particular, how often men post their photos on social networking sites.

The study showed that selfie addicts often display psychopathic traits.

Psychopathy is characterized by impulsivity. They take photos and post them online immediately, the researchers say.
Among selfie addicts, there are a lot of those prone to narcissism. A characteristic feature of male narcissism can be a habit to Photoshop their photos before posting them on social networking sites.
