According to the study conducted by British scientists, 90% of obese people believe that their weight is absolutely normal. This is due to the fact that large sizes become the new norm of today.

The study conducted by Cancer Research charitable society has shown that less than 10% of people suffering from clinical obesity admit the fact that they have a serious weight problem. 11% of obese women know that they are overweight. Among men, the number of realists is only 7%.

In total, the survey involved more than 2000 British, and only 10% correctly identified that the body mass index between 30 and 39.9 is a borderline in the transition from excess weight to obesity. Experts fear that the large size clothes that are now becoming more common make overweight the norm in many people’s minds.

With the growing epidemic of obesity in the world, there appear a growing number of people with a large amount of excess weight; they do not understand the fact that they have extra pounds on their body.

Co-author of the study, Professor Jane Wardle, says she is deeply concerned by the fact that people do not realize the problem of weight gain, which leads to obesity. They do not realize that they are at risk due to a number of serious diseases, including cancer. This is despite all the growing media attention to the problem of obesity, as well as numerous social campaigns aimed at better informing the public.
